Electric vehicles are taking the racing world by storm, offering a sustainable and thrilling alternative to traditional gasoline-powered machines. From open-wheel racing to off-road adventures, a diverse range of electric motorsports is capturing the imagination of fans and racers alike.

Formula E:

The pinnacle of electric motorsports, Formula E, features open-wheel single-seater cars that race on temporary street circuits around the world. The series boasts high-performance technology, close competition, and a commitment to promote sustainable practices. Each team has two drivers, and races typically last around 45 minutes.

MotoE World Championship:

For motorcycle enthusiasts, the MotoE World Championship delivers electrifying excitement. This series features electric motorcycles that compete on the same tracks as MotoGP, the premier motorcycle racing championship. With shorter race formats and tight competition, MotoE offers a thrilling dose of motorsports action.

FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup:

The FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup brings the excitement of touring car racing to the world of electric vehicles. Modified production electric cars battle it out on racetracks, showcasing the performance potential of electric technology in a familiar format. Started in 2021, and currently stalled for 2023, we hope to see this series re-launch in 2024.

Extreme E:

Extreme E combines electric racing with environmental activism. The series features off-road SUVs competing in remote and challenging environments around the world, raising awareness about climate change and promoting sustainable solutions.

Electric GT Championship:

For fans of high-performance sports cars, the Electric GT Championship offers thrilling competition. This series features electric sports cars developed by manufacturers like Porsche and Maserati, showcasing the future of electric performance vehicles.

Andros Trophy:

For a unique twist on motorsports, the Andros Trophy features electric cars racing on ice and snow. This series takes place in the French Alps, offering a challenging and visually stunning spectacle for race fans.

Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy:

The Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy provided a glimpse into the future of electric SUV racing. This series, which ran from 2018 to 2020, featured electric versions of the Jaguar I-Pace SUV competing on circuits around the world.

PEV Racing

On a smaller yet no less exciting scale is the racing of Personal Electric Vehicles which includes electric unicycle (EUC), OneWheel, ESK8, and e-scooter games and races. This area, like others here, is fast evolving and developing new forms of transportation not previously feasible without newer electric motors, controllers, and battery technology. Amped Electric Games does a nice job covering these races.

Beyond the Track:

The electric motorsports scene is constantly evolving, with new series and technologies emerging frequently. Electric rallycross, electric motocross, and even electric boats are gaining traction, demonstrating the versatility and potential of electric vehicles in the world of racing.
